Our History
Serving our community since 1945Our history in the area began in 1945 when Guy Braselton, a West Texas carpenter who had risen through the ranks to lead construction crews, came to Corpus Christi to build a children’s home destroyed in a fire. When he saw Corpus Christi Bay for the first time, he proclaimed, “This is the place!” and… we have been here ever since.
This has given our family a chance to build some of Corpus Christi’s landmarks, such as One Shoreline Plaza, the Corpus Christi International Airport, Corpus Christi Museum of Science and History, the Texas A&M University Library, and the old City Hall building. We have also built some of our most historic places to live and for visitors to stay downtown, including Cliff House Condominiums, Marina del Sol, the Holiday Inn Emerald Beach and the Best Western on the Bayfront.
We added our mark in education and houses of worship, building Mireles Elementary School and Temple Beth El- and even built iconic retail locations like the Alan Samuels Chevrolet dealership and the Corpus Christi Main Post Office.
We were even at the forefront of developing Padre Island as a vacation destination, building the Port Royal Condominiums on Mustang island and the first phase of Cinnamon Shore.
Braselton Homes grew with Corpus Christi, from a small custom homebuilder to a company that was consistently ranked as one of the Top Builders in the United States.
The company has won many local, state, and national awards including the Energy Star Leadership in Housing Award, the AEP Texas High-Performance Home Award, and the Environments for Living Diamond Award for Energy for Energy Efficiency.
Braselton grew into one of the Nation's Largest Homebuilders, earning consistent rankings in the annual Homebuilder’s lists compiled by both Professional Builder and Builder Magazine. Thousands of families in the Coastal Bend have trusted the Braseltons with their New Home, and generations of Corpus Christians have lived, worked, and vacationed in our homes and communities.
